About
PrinceShade started with a simple frustration: even at its lowest setting, a Mac’s screen can still be too bright in a dark room. The brightness keys stop at a floor — PrinceShade goes past it.
One thing, done well
PrinceShade is a small, focused menu-bar utility. It lays a smooth dark layer over your screen — at any level you choose, across every display — and adds independent warmth to cut blue light at night. No window clutter, no Dock icon, no learning curve. It stays out of the way until you need it.
Private by design
Your settings live on your Mac. PrinceShade has no accounts, no ads, and no tracking. Anonymous crash reports are optional and off-switchable — and when they’re off, the app makes no network connections at all. It requests no Location, Accessibility, or Screen Recording permissions.
Made by an independent developer
PrinceShade is built and maintained by Prince Lundgren — a one-person, indie effort. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases; just a better way to control how bright and how warm your Mac’s screen is. Have an idea or found a bug? Get in touch.
